Tallulah Howarth is an award-winning poet and multidisciplinary creative based in Leeds, currently studying an MA in Writing Poetry at Newcastle University. They are an alumni of Union: The Northern School for Creativity & Activism, and a current member of the Writing Squad. They have had publications in antae journal, HEBE Poetry Magazine and Now Then Magazine. In 2019, they were shortlisted in the top five for the BBC Young Writers' Award. In March 2024, she was The Poetry Business's Digital Poet-in-Residence. They co-organise and perform at the Leeds Poets for Palestine events. In 2025, she is partaking in the ReWrite residency, an international literary collaboration between Denmark and the UK.
She has forayed into music (or more accurately, noisemaking) with the original riot grrrl EP about foraging, ‘Dog Vomit Slime Mould’ (D.V.S.M, 2023), as well as expanding her relationship between poetry and sound - collaborating with jazz musicians and experimenting with loops to develop live performances. During her time in Leeds, she has worked with Ferg's Imaginary Big Band, Vipertime and Skwid Ink. She has performed in venues such as Hyde Park Book Club, Left Bank, Wharf Chambers, Outlaws Yacht Club and Sela Bar. These include a headline On the Mic slot and support slots at both Leeds Poetry Festival and Leeds Jazz Festival. In April 2024, she was shortlisted for the esteemed Roundhouse Poetry Slam and performed in the regional heats in Leeds.
Tallulah was the assistant producer of the Writing on Air Festival 2024 at Chapel FM. They also regularly DJ under the alias DJ TalisMan at venues such as Belgrave Music Hall, Headrow House and Water Lane Boathouse.
